Planning & Amenities - Notes from the Chairman...


Great News! The RCA Board of Directors has approved a final playground design for the Drakes Landing Park. See photo for details. The playground will replace the existing playground at Drakes Landing Park. The completed playground is designed for children ages 5-12 and will include 18 total activities and 4 swings. As reported previously by the RCA Executive Director, State Senator DeFrancisco helped RCA acquire a $25,000 state grant to purchase the playground. However, due to installation cost and the onset of winter, we have decided to wait until spring 2008 to build the playground. Our goal is to complete the playground prior to next summer's Rec program. Thank you to everyone who has helped the Plans and Amenities committee to date. We look forward to your continued support, especially in the spring when 10-12 community volunteers will be needed over 2 days to help build the playground. The Plans and Amenities Committee meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend our meetings.
